Mentors help moms return to work after baby
This is an idea that should go viral!
A Michigan company is matching moms-to-be and moms who are returning to work with a buddy, a kind of a mommy mentor. And it is boosting retention.
“The Human Resources department at a Deerfield, Michigan accounting firm partners pregnant women with other employees who have recently had babies, so that moms-to-be can ask questions and get support. The “buddies” also assist the new moms in making the transition back to work.”
The company’s HR spokesman says the benefits boost retention. “We have a very high success rate of people coming back” after having babies. “People appreciate that the firm cares about them spending time with their child,” says Kristen Cifolelli, HR Manager at PlanteMoran.com.
