Womenomics: Don’t be afraid to ask

Working women, particularly moms,  are too afraid to ask for what they want from their employers, says a new book “Womenomics: Write Your Own Rules for Success.”

And it is in your company’s interest to retain women.  Companies that employ more women are 46% more likely to be profitable, says the book,  launched this morning.

Congratulations to Womenomics’ authors, reporters Claire Shipman of ABC News’ “Good Morning America” and Katty Kay of the BBC, for using their high profiles to shine some light on the way working women are struggling to balance work and family.

By learning to say no, women can achieve their ideal work and family lives, the two authors say. (Isn’t saying no often the hardest bit?)

I haven’t read it yet, but will. I hope it talks about the plights of ordinary women, not just high-flying reporters and well-paid professional women.
