Lay-off Trackers: Do Not Send Resumes Here!
The recession has spawned a growth industry in lay-off tracking sites, which provide a weird and wonderful array of intelligence for any mom looking for work (or any mom’s husband, son, etc.).
Use these sites to find out where the hot, and ice cold, spots are in your industry or area, or to inform your job search when you decide it is time, really, really time, to move on before the ax falls.
Try these sites:
Worried your job is on the line? Try Telonu’s LayOff Tracker, which includes gossip and intelligence on companies that plan to lay folk off … they just haven’t got around to telling them yet. (The site includes job ads, too.)
GeekMBA360 tracks lay offs every day, and includes lots of advice for the newly chopped, minced or diced. Includes a cover letter for a laid off worker.
JoblessandLess promises to help the “employmentally challenged” by listing companies where you shouldn’t bother sending your resume.
Law Shucks tracks law firm lay offs.
There are many more sites. Don’t know how to find them? Let me Google that for you.
