Amazing women’s blogs honored at BlogHer10
If you haven’t read visited any of BlogHer10′s Voices of the Year, you are missing out.
These amazing bloggers were so talented that they made me consider giving up blogging altogether for fear of inadequacy when they weren’t inspiring me to try harder, do more, be bolder, take more risks and say what I really think.
I laughed, I cried, I felt embarrassed, I wanted to congratulate them for their bravery, intelligence and perseverance.
This post already has way too many adjectives for a hard-bitten old reporter (yes, I am one of those women who forces herself to get girlie in e-mails and use !!!! and LOL!!!!!) so without any more superlatives, here are the blogs … and some very brief comments on their readings:
Faiqa from Native Born read Welcome to American
As a new American citizen, I thought she got the tone exactly right. When I took the Oath of Allegiance, I was elated (I get to vote!) and sad.
Karen Green from The Kids Are Alright read Miami. This was an amazing story. Sad.
Deborah Goldstein from Peaches and Coconuts read Divorce Is So Gay
CATEGORY: GEEKY/NERDY
Liz Henry from BadgerBag read What Is Geek
Liz Rizzo from Everyday Goddess read Phone Karma
I related. If anyone even touches my new Droid, it’s off with their tweeting fingers. Her twitter @LizRiz
Here we are together at BlogHer:
Sarah Kimmel from Tech4Mommies read Online Scams, Chains and Hoaxes. If it is too good to be true, it is too good to be true.
CATEGORY: DESIGN
Jill Smokler from Scary Mommy showed the process behind her self-designed blog logo
Miguelina from Everyday Treats shared how she redesigned her blog
Stephanie Roberts from Picture of Hope showed and read about the Pictures of Hope project.
CATEGORY: HUMOR
Amy Windsor from The Bitchin’ Wives Club sang The Popular Blogger.
Give up your day job, Amy! Seriously. She rocked.
Marinka from Motherhood in NYC read Fantastic News!
A whole new approach to weight gain. Hilarious.
Metalia from Metalia performed Twilight: New Moon Rap
Rapping the blog.
CATEGORY: OPINION-EDITORIAL
Lissa Rankin from Owning Pink read What? We Can’t Say Vagina?
I can!!! And so can my eight-year old boys!
Jason Mayo from Outnumbered Online read Valentine’s Day Is a Greedy Whore.
Made me sad. He was so funny. I am jealous. It made my own attack, I hate Valentine’s Day, look pathetic.
Susan Niebur from Toddler Planet read In the Name of Awareness.
She gets my medal for bravery. If there was another war, I can imagine Susan being the one who’d go undercover, like the little mouse during the Second World War.
