Cover Letter Maths: Headhunters Want! I Have!
When you are applying for a job, it pays to connect the dots for recruiters and headhunters.
Your goal: Show them you have what they need as quickly as possible. Make it easy for them to see your resume and cover letter has got the right stuff.
Yes, a recruiter may see themselves that you, a fantastic mom with a great resume, has what the company needs.
But you increase your chances of getting an interview by doing the hard work for them.
That’s why I loved this fantastic idea to make your cover letter pop out of that recruiter’s inbox, suggested by Chris Bryan, a senior career coach. He explained his cover letter layout style to Fox News:
1. Describe on the left hand side of the letter what the company is posting or looking for and the specifications for the job. For example, you asked for a degree in accountancy, six years of experience preparing tax returns for business, plus the ability to work under pressure.
2. Then match this up on the right side with how you qualify for it, Bryan suggested.
That’s great advice for any unemployed moms who need work or any woman who is looking to change jobs.
